Something Wicked
Gwen dragged me out of the house last night and forced me to go to the Montgomery County Fair and Rodeo. We’ve lived in the area for fifteen years now and this is our first time going. If it wasn’t for the presence of the police drone and cell phones, I thought I’d have traveled back in time. Guns and Roses Sweet Child of Mine blared through the speakers of some fast-moving ride followed by Nirvana’s Smells Like Teen Spirit. I watched young couples walk hand-in-hand while carnies peddled their over-priced games and stuffed animals. The night air cooled off into the low 70s with a pleasant breeze emphasizing the…

Tres Lenguas
I’m sitting in my car with the windows down at work enjoying a nice breeze. It almost feels like I’m twenty again, except I’m tired, and achy, and sober. If I have any pride left in me at all, it is but a trace amount. I don’t even want to say where I’m working now. It’s part-time, I have to wear a name tag and deal with the general population, something I haven’t had to do since, well, since I was twenty. I get called “baby” and “sweetheart” by men and women, and I get hit on a lot by older men who are actually, probably, close to my age.…

Storm Clouds
“O foolish Galatians, who hath bewitched you…” Nothing has been the same since the assassination of Charlie Kirk. I have questioned God on this. Why did he let this happen to such a devout Christian in such a horrible way on a world stage? I will never get that image, the close-up footage, out of my head. But it is biblical, martyred for his faith, for his beliefs, and executed in a horrific way just like the apostles. The question as to why, why now, why Charlie, what purpose did it serve, I don’t know, but maybe God took Charlie when he did so he wouldn’t have to witness what’s…

Satanic Panic
The Epstein files. I haven’t read them. I should, but I’m just so tired of all the darkness. Im tired of nothing being done, and I’m tired of getting my hopes up. I’m tired of endless disappointment. I wrote a fiction novel on the subject, satanic ritual abuse, and got halfway through it until a real nightmare overtook my life. But that’s another story, so I keep telling myself. The subject matter at hand, sexual abuse, child sex trafficking, satanic rituals, the occult, the entertainment industry, the political realm, the elite—I’ve looked into all of it, extensively, for well over a decade now. The Finders case (with a direct link…

My Brother’s Keeper
This is a story about Dave. Dave (Dimples) Niediewski, my brother’s best friend, the best man at his wedding, his son’s godfather, and a recovering alcoholic just like my brother. The last time I talked to him was about nine, ten years ago, and that was only to let him know about my brother’s passing. In fact, one of the last conversations I had with Kirk was about Dave. The beach incident left a profound mark on all of us that day, but none more than Dave. It had been the four of us, my brother, his wife to be, myself, and Dave, as we piled into the car and…

The Empty Chair
I started this sketch a few days before Charlie Kirk’s assassination. I just didn’t have the heart to finish it after that. You have won the race, Charlie. Say hi to my brother up there, the other Kirk, another great debater.
