Backyard Antics

Backyard Reset

The backyard is on its own.

My passion vine has been devoured by the Gulf Fritillary caterpillars, which is fine, it happens every year. My begonias died. My moss rose plant died.

The purple flowers have, once again, completely taken over.

They’ve even taken over the burn pile where they were thrown last year and burned.

My Joseph’s Coat climbing rose died. The green plant you see is actually a weed. We have yet to replace the roof on our shed from when Hurricane Beryl took off the shingles back in 2024. My dad actually built it for me about fifteen years ago when I first bought the house.

With the amount of money we’ve spent on replacing tarps for it, we probably could have bought new roofing by now.

Anyway, when things cool off a bit (either when the sun dies or Yellowstone explodes), I plan on ripping everything out and planting cactus and yucca. Maybe I’ll even plant a rock garden.

I did see a barn owl on my way home from work the other night. I stopped the car in the middle of the road and quickly snapped a picture.
